| Paul Pipkin, FEBC missionary, visits Volcano Island, the heart of the Lake Taal scenic phenomenon (see #797 for an early view of the whole larger lake). On the left is Paul; in the center, Max Atienza. Missionaries, in creating slide shows for the supporting public enjoyed referring to this geological wonder as "the lake within the lake within the island (Volcano) within the lake (Taal), within the island (Luzon)within the Ocean." Some even claimed the lake within Volcano Island had a "rock" in the middle which was used for bombing practice in WWII! In subsequent years the volcano itself erupted, increasing the size of Volcano Island significantly. Year: 1950 Country: PHL Set: 4 Updated: 2008-09-03 20:53:05
