The Philippine carabao was the main "farm vehicle" until hand-held motor-driven tractors were introduced by the Japanese in the 1970's. Among southeast Asian water buffaloes, the carabao was the largest and sported magnificent horns. In later years, the size of the animals diminished.

Date uncertain. A duet apparently being sung from an old "Songs Of Praise" hymn book in English. The photo is taken in Studio "C" at FEBC Manila. This Manila company was financially supportive of FEBC in the crucial first years of operation in the Philippines. The company's name also appears as a donor in the first broadcast schedule of DZFE (see #414).

Members of the Chinese Vesper Hour (Amoy), including Mrs. Chua Kian Tiang, pose for a photo in Studio "C." Date is not certain, but the U.S. flag shows pre-1959 48 stars. In the early days, FEBC's development depended largely on U.S. donors and personnel. Also prominent in early photos is the "Truth/Freedom banner," which was an early local motto. Some missionary movements after WII were stimulated in part by the concern for the spread of atheistic communism in Asia.
