| The full story of this beautiful photograph of the 1950's era, has yet to be researched. Mrs. Robert (Eleanor) Bowman, received this photograph as an Easter greeting from Mrs. Maria V. Maypa in April of 1950. It shows the family and home in Calangcung, Makato, Capiz, Panay (Island). The photo was taken on March 30. | The historic Pan American Boeing Stratocruiser "Clipper America" taxis to the ramp at Manila International Airport. The photo is from the collection of an FEBC visitor named "Jesse" who toured Asia and who arrived in Manila on this aircraft in about 1951. The Boeing 377 was the first step up from the PanAM "flying boats" that had been traversing the Pacific. FEBC personnel utilized this aircraft, in the mid 1950's as the first break from sea travel. | This photo was taken by a person named "Jesse" visiting FEBC in the very early 1950's He was apparently impressed by the flags of the U.S. and Philippines flying side by side at CRCM, Manila. FEBC's initial effort was largely American, even though the intent was from the beginning to make the operations ultimately indigenous. The Philippines was part of the American Commonwealth from 1898 to 1946. FEBC began its work in the Philippines in 1947.
